Our handbook is designed to give you all the important information you need about Christy’s DancExplosion—policies, expectations, schedules, and everything that helps our dancers and families have the best experience possible.
Before completing your registration, please take a moment to read through the handbook carefully so you’ll feel confident and prepared for the season ahead.

Short Sessions

6 weeks of classes

Our 6-week sessions are the perfect way to sample a class, celebrate a fun theme, or try something new without a long-term commitment. These short sessions give dancers a chance to experience the joy of dance, build skills, and see if a style is the right fit—all while enjoying a themed adventure in a welcoming, high-energy environment.

2 years old

Move With Me (Short Sessions)

This joyful parent-and-child class is designed for our tiniest dancers to explore movement, music, and rhythm in a nurturing environment. With the help of a grown-up, dancers will develop motor skills, coordination, and social interaction through creative play, songs, and simple dance steps. “Move With Me” is the perfect introduction to the dance studio—full of fun, bonding, and giggles—while building confidence and a love for movement from the very beginning.

2s Dance Too! (Short Sessions OR full season)

This independent class is designed especially for our terrific twos! Dancers will explore movement and music in a fun, nurturing environment that encourages creativity, confidence, and independence. Through imaginative play, basic ballet technique, and age-appropriate gross motor activities, little ones build coordination, rhythm, and a love for dance—all on their own, without a grown-up. A perfect first step into the world of dance!

TINY

3-4 years old

Dance & Tumble

Jump, wiggle, and tumble with smiles all around! Tiny Dance and Tumble combines creative dance movements with basic tumbling skills in a fun, playful environment. This class helps little movers build coordination, balance, and confidence—all while exploring movement and rhythm through joyful play

MINI

4 - 5 years old

Ballet & Tap Combo

This fun and engaging combo class introduces young dancers to the foundations of both ballet and tap in a positive, encouraging environment. Dancers will build coordination, musicality, balance, rhythm, and confidence while learning basic ballet technique, tap steps, classroom structure, and creative movement. Classes are designed to keep preschool and kindergarten-aged dancers moving, learning, and having fun while developing a love for dance and performance!

Hip Hop

Get ready to move, groove, and have fun! This high-energy class introduces young dancers to hip hop through upbeat music, fun moves, and age-appropriate choreography while building confidence, coordination, and rhythm.

Tumble/Acro

Jump, roll, and tumble with us! This fun and active class introduces young

students to basic tumbling skills while building strength, flexibility, coordination,

and confidence in a safe and encouraging environment.

PETITE

6 - 8 Years Old

Ballet

This foundational ballet class is designed for young dancers ages 6–8 who are ready to begin formal ballet training. Students will focus on proper body alignment, basic positions of the feet and arms, and introductory ballet vocabulary. Through structured barre and center work, dancers will begin to develop discipline, coordination, musicality, and an understanding of classical technique. This level sets the stage for continued progression in ballet and prepares dancers for more advanced training in future levels.

Hip Hop

Bring the energy and get ready to move! This fun and fast-paced hip hop class introduces young dancers to the basics of hip hop movement and freestyle. Dancers will build coordination, rhythm, and confidence while learning age-appropriate choreography set to upbeat, kid-friendly music. With a focus on creativity and self-expression, this class is all about having fun and finding your groove!

Jazz

Get ready to leap, turn, and groove! This high-energy jazz class introduces young dancers to the fundamentals of jazz technique in a fun and supportive environment. Students will explore rhythm, coordination, flexibility, and expressive movement while learning basic steps, across-the-floor combinations, and upbeat choreography to kid-friendly music. Perfect for building confidence, creativity, and a love for dance!

Musical Theater Dance

Sing, dance, and shine on stage! This energetic class combines jazz-style dance with performance skills inspired by musical favorites. Dancers will build confidence, coordination, stage presence, and expression while learning fun choreography and developing a love for performing.

Tap

This class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of tap technique with a focus on rhythm, sound clarity, and musicality. Dancers will learn basic tap vocabulary and explore timing, coordination, and patterns through engaging exercises and choreography. Petite Tap encourages precision and confidence while laying the groundwork for more advanced tap training in a structured and supportive environment.

Lyrical

Petite Lyrical introduces young dancers to the expressive style of lyrical dance, blending elements of ballet and jazz with emotional storytelling and musical interpretation. Dancers will focus on fluid movement, foundational technique, and connecting movement to music in a meaningful way. This class helps develop flexibility, control, and performance quality while encouraging dancers to explore artistry and self-expression appropriate for their age and level.

Pre Pointe

This introductory class is designed for young dancers who show focus and potential for future pointe work. Petite Pre-Pointe emphasizes proper alignment, posture, and strength-building exercises that support the feet, ankles, and core. While dancers will not wear pointe shoes, they will begin preparing their bodies for the demands of pointe work through structured barre and center work. This class is ideal for motivated ballet students seeking to deepen their technique and begin laying the groundwork for classical ballet progression

Clogging

Get ready to make some noise and have fun! This upbeat class introduces dancers to the fundamentals of clogging through energetic footwork, rhythm, musicality, and performance-based choreography. Dancers will build coordination, timing, confidence, and teamwork in a fun and encouraging environment.

Acro

Petite Acro (ages 6-8) and Acro 1 & 2 (ages 7+) build on basic acrobatic skills while introducing more structured technique and body awareness. Students will work on strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination through progressions such as bridges, handstands, cartwheels, and limbers. The class focuses on safe skill development and controlled movement, helping dancers gain confidence as they transition toward more advanced acro levels. Emphasis is placed on proper technique and seamless movement that supports both dance and acrobatic growth.

TLC

This technique-focused class helps dancers build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while improving turns, jumps, and leaps. Dancers will work on proper technique and body control through fun drills and conditioning exercises designed to support growth in all styles of dance.

Theater

Lights, camera, action! This fun and interactive class introduces young performers to the world of theater through scripts, character development, reading parts, stage direction, and basic stage production. Students will build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and performance skills while learning what it takes to bring a story to life on stage.

Pom

This upbeat and energetic class combines sharp motions, dance technique, and pom choreography inspired by dance team performances. Dancers will build coordination, precision, confidence, and performance skills while learning fun routines and working with poms in a positive, high-energy environment.

JUNIOR

9 - 11 years Old

Ballet

Designed for dancers ages 9–11 who are new to ballet or new to CDE, this class introduces the fundamentals of classical ballet in a structured and encouraging environment. Students will learn proper body alignment, basic ballet vocabulary, and foundational technique through barre and center work. Emphasis is placed on coordination, posture, musicality, and classroom etiquette. This class also serves as a placement opportunity for new students to determine the best level for continued ballet training at CDE.

Dance Team/Pom

This dynamic class is designed for dancers who want to take their pom and dance team skills to the next level! Focused on preparing students for high school and college dance teams, this class builds strong technique in jazz, pom, and hip hop styles. Dancers will work on sharp motions, clean lines, kicks, jumps, and turns, while also developing stamina, performance presence, and team precision. Each class includes technique drills, across-the-floor work, and choreography similar to what’s seen in competitive and collegiate dance teams. Perfect for goal-driven dancers who want to train in a supportive, high-energy environment.

Hip Hop

This high-energy class is perfect for dancers ages 9–11 who love to move and groove! Junior Hip Hop focuses on rhythm, coordination, and musicality while introducing age-appropriate choreography and foundational hip hop technique. Dancers will build confidence, style, and strength as they explore fun combinations and express themselves through dynamic movement—all in a supportive, upbeat environment.

Lyrical/Contemporary

This expressive class blends the technique of ballet and jazz with emotional storytelling through movement. Dancers will explore musicality, fluid movement, strength, flexibility, and artistry while learning choreography that encourages creativity, connection, and performance quality.

Theater

This performance-based class focuses on stage acting, script work, character development, and live theater production. Students will strengthen their acting skills through scene work, reading parts, stage direction, and performance exercises while building confidence, creativity, and stage presence.

Clogging

This high-energy class introduces dancers to the exciting world of clogging! The class teaches fundamental footwork, timing, and rhythm in a fun and upbeat environment. Dancers will learn traditional and contemporary clogging styles while building coordination, musicality, and confidence.

Musical Theater Dance

This class combines jazz technique with the expressive storytelling of Broadway. Dancers will learn stylized choreography inspired by iconic musicals while developing stage presence, character work, and performance skills. From classic show tunes to contemporary hits, this class is perfect for teen and senior dancers looking to build confidence, sharpen their technique, and bring big personality to the stage

Pre Pointe

This class is designed for dedicated ballet students who are preparing to transition to pointe work. Dancers will focus on strengthening the feet, ankles, legs, and core while refining alignment, balance, and classical technique. Emphasis is placed on proper body placement and injury prevention to ensure readiness for pointe shoes.

Jazz

A high-energy class that builds on jazz basics while introducing more complex steps, combinations, and styles. Dancers will work on sharp movements, leaps, turns, and flexibility, all set to age-appropriate, upbeat music. This class encourages confidence, stage presence, and a strong technical foundation while keeping the fun and excitement of jazz dance at the center.

Tap

Dancers will develop rhythm, timing, and musicality while learning more intricate footwork and patterns. This class builds on foundational tap skills with added focus on clarity of sound, speed, and coordination. Set to fun, age-appropriate music, dancers will strengthen their technique and confidence while creating percussive rhythms with their feet.

TLC

This technique-focused class helps dancers build strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination while improving turns, jumps, and leaps. Dancers will work on proper technique and body control through fun drills and conditioning exercises designed to support growth in all styles of dance.
